DraftKings files accusations against ex-employee Hermalyn

Mike Hermalyn, the former VIP head of DraftKings, a sports betting and fantasy sports company, is a target of severe accusations.

In a recent court filing in Massachusetts, DraftKings states that it has proof that Hermalyn looked for to recruit additional workers to work for Fanatics, a significant sports goods shop, in addition to stealing proprietary corporate information.

Hermalyn downloaded a large quantity of papers onto his own devices that contained trade secrets and private information while he was still working at DraftKings. Additionally, according to DraftKings, Hermalyn urged important staff members and clients to leave DraftKings and join Fanatics.

DraftKings further claims that Hermalyn tried to hide his activities by erasing documentation of his deeds and making up material in his remarks. The business claims that Hermalyn disregarded a temporary restraining order (TRO) against him and did not return all of DraftKings’ proprietary information.

An internal inquiry of Hermalyn’s actions earlier this year, which apparently resulted in his placement on a personal improvement plan, loss of salary, and forfeiture of corporate perks, is also detailed in the lawsuit. Hermalyn allegedly communicated with Fanatics’ CEO during this period over a possible employment and started obtaining further private data before erasing his browsing history and deleting his personal text messages.

Hermalyn is reported to have stayed at the chief executive officer’s Los Angeles residence after departing DraftKings on February 1st, where he reportedly continued to view the downloaded papers. Hermalyn allegedly made contact with two DraftKings workers as well, offering them high-paying employment at Fanatics and suggesting that he had the CEO’s blessing.

Hermalyn’s employment with Fanatics is being blocked by DraftKings until the legal situation is settled. Hermalyn was previously subject to a temporary restraining order issued by a judge, which forbade him from approaching clients or staff members of DraftKings or disclosing any private company information.

Hermalyn, who presently resides in California, is contesting DraftKings’ non-compete agreement in court.
