Spanish Gambling Association calls for fair competition
The head of a trade association representing land-based gambling in Spain has demanded that the industry level the playing field and give online gambling businesses more competition.
At a recent conference, José Vall, the president of the Spanish Association of Gaming and Recreation Hall Business Owners, stated that the gambling industry is the only one experiencing declines.
Vall added:
“Online gaming is growing by 28 per cent, public games are growing and private in-person games are declining, as others have more advertising opportunities or government support in the case of government-owned companies.”
Following his speech at the 11th Gaming Hall Congress, Vall urged regional administrations to serve as “referees” and facilitate peaceful coexistence.
The president of the Association stated:
“When someone wins, another loses. To gain advantages, we need to compete in hours, payment methods and gaming options. “Anesar is prepared to participate in the process of formulating well-argued proposals based on solid foundations.”
The event took place in the auditorium of the Cívitas Metropolitano Stadium, which is the home field of Atlético Madrid, a Spanish football team.
In accordance with the conference’s topic of “Gaming as Entertainment: Economic and Social Engine”, Vall stated:
“We must present ourselves as an economic and social engine, as a source of entertainment, and as a guarantee for citizens and administrations that gaming in our establishments is well-regulated and safe.”
