Bally’s plans to have a casino on the Lake of the Ozarks
Bally’s Corp. and the Osage River Gaming and Convention Committee (OGCC) plan to have a casino along the scenic Osage River close to the Bagnell Dam at Lake of the Ozarks.
Bally’s and the OGCC recently presented exciting plans for the new casino project at a Lake Ozark Board of Aldermen meeting, which aimed to feature a hotel, conference center, and retail spaces with gaming tax revenues of around $14.4 million for further funding to elementary education and literacy programs.
However, getting the license is a challenge for the company. In order to have it, a simple majority vote is required to permit construction near artificial bodies of water, including manmade Lake of the Ozarks.
Together with this project, voters will also decide whether to allow retail and mobile sports betting in the state, supported by industry leaders DraftKings and FanDuel.
Opposition against the project
The initiative to have a casino in Missouri along the scenic Osage River has been actual for many years. However, the project kept facing delays, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Osage Nation has also supported the delays back in 2022 and 2023. It is considering having its own casino in the same place.
Recently, Bally’s terminated its Pennsylvania casino agreement with SC Gaming to develop College Township in Pennsylvania. This new casino project will boost Bally’s presence in the market and will further expand the company’s offerings.
