ANJL shared the early results of its member survey on October 7, 2026, further revealing that another 4,167 workers are on collective leave, which is a labor law tool that sends staff home while a company waits for a decision. Together, that is about half of a workforce of around 15,000 who are either out of work or in the process of becoming unemployed.
ANJL has warned that the layoffs could reach 5,600 within 90 days if the Supreme Federal Court doesn’t act. The survey covers operators and also payments, technology, marketing, customer service, compliance, and affiliates, though ANJL hasn’t said how many companies replied.
Plínio Jorge, president of ANJL, stated:
“We need real numbers to gauge the effects of the measure on workers and companies that depend on the activity. Each of these families is seeing one of its members lose their job due to an unconstitutional decision that has yet to be ruled upon by the Supreme Federal Court.”
ANJL has also gone to a federal court in Brasília, asking it to keep its members’ licenses valid beyond the October 25 cancellation date.
