Caesars launches its retail sportsbooks in Louisiana

Users of the Caesars Sportsbook app in Louisiana may now wager on sports in person. Both Caesar’s properties, Harrah’s New Orleans and Horseshoe Bossier City Hotel & Casino, opened on October 31st.

Dan Real, regional president at Caesars Entertainment, commented:

“Caesars Entertainment regional president Dan Real commented: ” “Caesars is proud of its dedication to Louisiana and the whole Gulf Coast region. Today was a big day for us as a company. We’re excited to open our newest Caesars Sportsbook locations in Harrah’s New Orleans and Horseshoe Bossier City to recognize the significance of these locations in the area. We can’t wait to show sports enthusiasts all sports betting has to offer while stressing ethical gaming.”

Caesars had organized a ceremony to commemorate the occasion, and Mayor Tommy Chandler was the one to cut the ribbon to honor the opening in Bossier City. Former New Orleans Saints quarterback Bobby Herbert was the first to put a wager at Harrah’s in support of Second Harvest Food Bank.

Both locations will be renovated as part of Caesars’ plans to rename Harrah’s New Orleans and Isle of Capri Lake Charles, respectively, as Caesars New Orleans and Horseshoe Lake Charles next year. Although the Caesars Sportsbook app is currently available to Louisiana residents, it has not yet been authorized for mobile sports betting by the state’s regulatory authorities. Users can also profit, for example, with a $100 bonus if they download the app before it launches.

Eric Hession, co-president of Caesars Digital, said:

“We are thrilled to provide sports betting to our loyal clients in Louisiana. The opening of our sportsbooks at Harrah’s and Horseshoe is only the beginning. Once mobile sports betting is available, we look forward to servicing sports enthusiasts across all platforms and providing all of our clients with unique Caesars Rewards experiences.”

After several delays, Louisiana has legalized sports betting. Because the new tax could only be passed in odd-numbered years, they had to wait until 2021 to approve the law. In June, the law entered into force. Sports betting is only legal in communities that supported the proposition during the election.
