Evolution records a decline after UKGC investigation
Evolution, a leading B2B solution provider for casino operators, recorded a decline in its shares of more than 10% after the UK Gambling Commission’s investigation.
The investigation took place after it became clear that Evolution’s games were accessible in the UK to those operators who don’t have the appropriate license to operate in the country. The consequences of the investigation may range from fines to severe actions, including license suspension or revocation.
Evolution has acknowledged the situation and will fully cooperate with the UKGC and block unlicensed access to its games in the UK. The company has also clarified that it had previously removed flagged games from unlicensed platforms. However, uncertainty persists over how the UKGC will respond, keeping investors on edge.
Historically, such cases have resulted in financial penalties and not license suspensions. However, it is still possible that harsher results and challenges will still surround the landscape. Recently, Evolution faced a $25K fine for compliance breaches in its Philadelphia live dealer studio.
While Evolution has only 3% of its shares in the UK, this news, which once again proves the urge to increase regulatory scrutiny in the online gaming sector still harmed the investing segment of the company.
