GamCare introduces several themed discussion chatrooms
GamCare has recently announced that it will be hosting several chatrooms to help problem gamblers.
The new chatrooms will commence on the 31st of July and will be held on weekdays between 6 and 7 pm. Each day will have a dedicated theme, which will cover four different topics in a cycle, giving participants the ability to view and learn from each of the 20 total topics every month.
The five main themes of the charity’s new initiative, going from Monday to Friday, will be covering time, well-being, finances, lived experiences of gambling harm, and relationships. Each of the themes will cover a variety of insightful topics and will allow all of its participants to share their thoughts and learn from others.
The first theme, time, will be held on Mondays and will cover topics like the impacts of spending a considerable amount of time gambling, taking breaks from the pastime, breaking gambling cycles, and dedicating gambling time to other things. Following this will be the theme of well-being, which will cover the impacts of gambling on a player’s mood and mental health, and how they can improve these attributes.
Wednesdays will bring on discussions about gamblers’ finances, with the theme’s topics covering budget management, planning, and providing participants guidance on debt. Thursday’s theme will allow gamblers with lived experiences of harm to share their stories and talk with the participants about any related past and present challenges. Finally, Friday’s theme will be relationships, which will cover the topics of gambling-related relationship breakups and trust issues, and will help participants improve their situations.
