MGM Resorts teams up with Yankees for stadium branding

MGM Resorts International, a leading casino entity, has unveiled a fresh collaboration with the New York Yankees, naming the corporation an esteemed partner of the baseball team.

This alliance promises exclusive VIP perks for MGM Rewards members and Yankees enthusiasts, such as watching batting practice from the warning track and participating in the ceremonial first pitch at Yankee Stadium.

MGM Resorts will feature prominently at Yankee Stadium, with their brand showcased on LED displays, rotational signage at first and third bases, and their logo appearing on the pitcher’s mound during live local TV broadcasts of certain games.

Bill Hornbuckle, The CEO and President of MGM Resorts said:

“We remain committed to investing in the community while collaborating with the New York Yankees to provide unparalleled experiences for baseball fans. Our company has owned and operated Empire City Casino and Yonkers Raceway for the past five years. As we continue working to secure a full commercial casino license at Empire City, this partnership allows us to further develop these properties to their potential, while providing the world-class hospitality guests have come to expect from the MGM Resorts brand.”

Michael Tusiani, New York Yankees Senior Vice President of Partnerships, said:

“We are excited to partner with MGM Resorts this season. Through branding displayed on signage inside Yankee Stadium and integrated into our television broadcasts, the MGM Resorts brand will only see increased exposure and recognition for its resort and casino properties — especially for the nearby Empire City Casino.”

As part of the partnership, MGM Resorts’ Empire City Casino will organize New York Yankees-themed fan events and experiences featuring both active Major League Baseball (MLB) players and alumni.

Ed Domingo, President and COO, of MGM Resorts’ Empire City Casino, added:

“This alliance allows us to create unique and engaging opportunities for guests and baseball fans alike. Empire City sits less than two miles from the Bronx border and is not only the gaming entertainment destination of choice for Bronxites but also the longtime employer of hundreds of team members who call the Bronx home.”

This partnership comes as New York is moving forward with its licensing process for up to three new downstate casinos. MGM is in the running, aiming to expand its operations at Empire City Casino. MGM’s proposal is one of 11 competing bids. Domingo mentioned that the casino is well-placed to boost local employment once they secure a full-scale commercial casino license.

The agreement also strengthens MGM’s existing relationship with Major League Baseball. Back in November 2018, MGM Resorts and MLB partnered in both the US and Japan, making MGM the first Official Gaming Partner and Official Entertainment Partner of MLB. Since 2022, MGM Resorts has also been an Official Partner of MLB Players, Inc.
