Missouri Gaming Commission grants licenses to DraftKings and Circa
The Missouri Gaming Commission has chosen Circa Sports and DraftKings to receive the state’s two independent mobile sports betting licenses.
The MGC chose DraftKings and Circa as two standalone operators on August 15. Missouri voters approved legal sports betting in late 2024. However, the market is set to open on December 1, with casinos, professional sports teams, and DraftKings and Circa as those two operators.
Chairman of the Missouri Gaming Commission, Jan Zimmerman, stated:
“The Commission considered many factors before the two applicants were chosen. We commend Betfair Interactive US, LLC, for its efforts. It was a difficult decision, but the Commission is only able to grant two licenses.”
Matt Kalish, President of DraftKings North America, commented:
“We’re pleased to secure one of two direct mobile licences in Missouri. Missouri is home to several professional teams and deeply passionate fanbases, and we look forward to enhancing their sports experience with a dynamic and responsible mobile platform.”
Circa CEO also praised the decision, saying that it is a major achievement for the company.
Although FanDuel did not win one of the two direct licenses, it has secured a partnership with St. Louis CITY SC to gain market access. Other casinos and teams planning to apply for licenses have time until September 12, ahead of the official December 1 launch
