As reported by the North Carolina State Lottery Commission, the state’s sports betting handle increased by 128% year-on-year and reached $665.9 million in December 2025.

Of the total handle, $651.1 million came from cash wagers, while the remaining $14.8 million comprised promotional wagers.

$3 million was registered as cancelled voided bets, while players got $581.4 million back during December 2025.

December 2025’s gross gaming revenue (GGR) totaled $81.5 million, which was more than double the $35.7 million generated in December 2024 but still 12.3% short of November 2025. As a result, tax proceeds from sports betting amounted to $14.7 million in December 2025.

The North Carolina State Lottery Commission does not publish breakdowns for the performance of licensed operators in the state; however, the most active operators in North Carolina are FanDuel, DraftKings, Fanatics, ESPN Bet, Bet365, and BetMGM.

Numbers for the first half of the 2025 fiscal year were published, covering the period up until the end of December 2025.

During this time, the total sports betting handle reached $3.83 billion, which was higher by 20.1% compared to the same time in 2024. Meanwhile, gross gaming revenue generated $396.2 million, up 28.4%.
