PAGCOR mandates new responsible gaming helpline messaging
PAGCOR has instructed all licensed gaming operators, suppliers, venue operators, and other industry stakeholders to update their responsible gaming messaging to promote the Philippines’ newly launched National Problem Gambling Helpline (NPGH).
Under a memorandum issued by the regulator’s Gaming Licensing and Development Department (GLDD) on June 9, the revised messaging must be implemented across all responsible gaming materials by July 15. The requirement applies to a number of advertising channels, including billboards and digital displays.
The initiative is designed to bring more public attention to the National Problem Gambling Helpline, which was launched as part of the country’s wider responsible gaming efforts. PAGCOR said that the NPGH messaging has to stay active up until September 15, warning that failure to comply can lead to regulatory sanctions and penalties.
PAGCOR chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco said:
“Responsible gaming goes beyond awareness. It also means ensuring that help is readily available to those who need it most. By promoting the NPGH that we launched recently, we can offer professional support for individuals and families affected by gambling-related harm. This initiative reflects PAGCOR’s commitment to foster a safer and more responsible gaming environment for all.”
The directive forms part of PAGCOR’s ongoing responsible gaming agenda. Earlier this year, the regulator set an August 1 deadline for B2B gaming suppliers to meet compliance requirements. In May, it also reported that gross gaming revenue in the Philippines declined by 16% during the first quarter of the year.
