Svenska Spel CEO Patrik Hofbauer announces resignation

Svenska Spel’s President and Chief Executive, Patrik Hofbauer, will soon be leaving his position at the operator.

Following an almost half-decade-long tenure as the Chief Executive and President of the Swedish government-owned Svenska Spel, Hofbauer has announced that he will soon be stepping down from his role to pursue other opportunities.

Svenska Spel’s Chair, Erik Strand, remarked:

“Utilizing his extensive knowledge, Patrik has done an excellent job of leading Svenska Spel through important transitionary times. He played an important role during the re-regulation of the Swedish gambling industry and helped the company establish its long-term expansion strategy. Our team would like to express our gratitude to him for his invaluable contributions to the growth and development of Svenska Spel.”

The operator’s outgoing CEO commented:

“Leading Svenska Spel over the past half-decade has been an excellent journey. Having a professional and dedicated team of professionals, I am certain that Svenska Spel is in an excellent position to maintain its growth momentum and continue expanding and delivering leading gambling experiences to its player base.”

The outgoing CEO will officially leave his position at the Swedish gambling operator at the end of January next year. Following this, he will be taking on the position of the CEO and President of the Telia Company, a major Swedish telecommunications firm. Moreover, Svenska Spel mentioned in its announcement that the company’s Board has already initiated the process of finding Hofbauer’s replacement.
