Sweden bans WiseAvant OÜ for license violations

The Swedish Gaming Authority has prohibited WiseAvant OÜ from offering games in Sweden because it doesn’t have the required license.

On its website, the company has organized lotteries with so-called “skins”. Skins are cosmetic items from video games that can be purchased and sold separately from the video games to which they belong. The website provides various modes of play in which gamers can win skins. If the player loses, the bet also fails. The website is promoted on several platforms, including Twitch.

The Swedish Gambling Authority stated:

“We prioritise measures that contribute to gambling taking place with operators who have a Swedish gambling license. The Swedish Gaming Authority therefore clarifies the basis for our decisions on banning illegal online gambling by publishing these on our website.”
