Thailand to reveal casino complex plan on June 4
After a long run, the Thai government is getting ready to come up with a major announcement on Wednesday, June 4, right ahead of the Thai Entertainment Complex Roundtable (TECR).
The press conference will take place at the historic 150th Anniversary Building at the Ministry of Finance, starting at 3 PM. Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amornvivat and Suksit Srichomkwan, Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister, will also participate in the conference.
This event, titled “THAILAND ENTERTAINMENT COMPLEX: A World-Class Experience Destination for All Thais,” is designed to finally share all the details of what these complexes are all about and why they might be a game-changer for the country. With the bill making its way through Parliament, the government is clearly ready to go public with its vision.
International operators like Galaxy, Melco, and Wynn are already in Bangkok for TECR, which will start the next day at the Grand Hyatt Erawan. They’ll join local critics, experts, and policymakers in what could be a turning point for Thailand’s legal gambling and resort industry.
Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra is trying hard to get the public on board. and get rid of strong opposition. She’s asked MPs to help explain how the plan could bring in jobs, boost tourism, and spark investment, while acknowledging the possibility of side effects.
