On August 19, 2026, U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to take part in a White House meeting alongside executives from the prediction markets and cryptocurrency industries, one day ahead of a CFTC innovation meeting scheduled for August 20, 2026.
Representatives from the industry are reported to attend the meeting, including the Chairman of the Securities Exchange Commission, Paul Atkins, the Chairman of the CFTC, Michael Selig, as well as executives from Coinbase, Polymarket, Ripple, and Gemini. Reports have also suggested that finance company executives may participate too, such as Nasdaq, CME Group, the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation, and the New York Stock Exchange.
President of Nova Dius Wealth, Nate Geraci, wrote:
“White House hosting major crypto meeting this week…IMO, administration not waiting around for Clarity Act. Garnering support for that would be great, but think they’ve already made decision to power ahead regardless. Predict this meeting will strongly reinforce that message.”
Speculations about the meeting were first announced by Politico on August 13, after which Bloomberg reported Trump’s attendance on August 14, citing an individual familiar with the matter; however, the White House hadn’t shared an official attendee list as of August 18.
Regarding the CFTC innovation meeting, the industry is set to hold a discussion focused on crypto regulations and AI, and to cover issues connected to federal and state supervision of prediction markets.
