Turkey’s football federation provisionally suspended 448 current and former club officials on October 1, 2026, after finding they placed bets while holding office over the past five years.

The list, which was released by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF), includes officials who served at Süper Lig and TFF 1 clubs during the 2026-27 season, with about 171 of them connected to top-flight Süper Lig teams. Among the names are Trabzonspor President Ertuğrul Doğan, who led the club’s signing of Mohamed Salah in August 2026, and Beşiktaş Vice-President Hakan Daltaban. All 448 have now been referred to the federation’s disciplinary committee for further proceedings.

Doğan addressed the case on broadcaster A Spor, admitting he once held a betting account but argued that he had already disclosed it to the relevant authorities.

Doğan stated:

“These companies sponsored clubs and held launch events. Nobody thought this would cause problems… if we made a mistake, we apologize, but we have done nothing wrong.”

The TFF has tightened its supervision of betting since the scandal connected to Turkish football in 2025 that led to suspensions for 149 referees and 1,024 players, along with jail time for many players and club officials over match-fixing and illegal betting.
