UKGC fines Lindar Media £691k

The UKGC has recently ordered Lindar Media, the operator of MrQ.com, to pay just under 700 thousand pounds in fines for several failures.

The regulator’s latest penalty originated from a compliance review of Lindar Media’s operations from a year ago, which highlighted a few shortcomings in the operator’s AML and responsible gambling efforts. The UKGC stated that these violations took place between July of 2021 and September of last year.

The various shortcomings in the company’s AML and responsible gambling efforts originated from its subpar procedures and policies. The regulator stated that the operator had lacking solutions for reporting suspicious events taking place on its systems and failed to promote its offerings in a responsible manner throughout the period.

The authority added that the company did not contribute or support any charitable organizations focusing on research, treatment, and prevention of problem gambling, which will soon be a requirement for locally licensed gambling firms in the country, introduced as part of the UK gambling legislation white paper earlier in the year. The UKGC also stated that Lindar Media assigned a few additional roles to its Head of Compliance without first seeking approval from the regulator.
