VGCCC fines casinos for allowing after-hours pokies use
The Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC) fined three venues AU$60,000 in total for permitting gamblers to continue using pokies after the official hours of operation.
The VGCCC stated that venue operators can take use of Intralot Gaming Services‘ free product, which automatically switches poker machines on and off to coincide with opening hours.
The commission also advised operators to constantly monitor poker machine activity and examine their license conditions to guarantee regulatory compliance, including restricting pokies to only be played during operating hours.
To give gamblers more clarity, the VGCCC made modifications to online gaming accounts in April. To improve the accuracy of net win figures, these adjustments include subtracting bonus and free bets from net losses and removing all stakes from total payments. For operators to show losses more clearly they must also reduce their usage of black and red while sticking to simple words.
