10 Years in iGaming: From Newcomer to CMO
It marks 10 years since I first entered the exciting and thrilling world of iGaming. What began as a short-term adventure has quickly transformed into a rewarding and passion-filled career that has changed my life.
Moving to Malta and eventually finding my footing in Tallinn, I have had the honour of witnessing firsthand the rapid growth, shifts, and various transformations that have helped define this competitive industry.
Today, I am proud to form part of Mr. Gamble’s ambitious and high-achieving team as we push the brand into new markets and also set new standards.
From Customer Support to Strategic Leadership
My journey in iGaming began in Customer Support at Betsson, which was quite a leap from my former role in telecom sales management. This career change surprised friends and family, but I know it was a step in the right direction for me.
Over time, I moved through various roles, including as Affiliate Coordinator, Affiliate Manager, and eventually Head of Affiliates. Each of these aforementioned positions offered unique insights into the industry’s many sectors and emerging trends.
Adaptability is essential in iGaming, an industry which is well-known for its fast pace. In every role, I had to learn new skills, stay up-to-date with various changes, including regulation ones, and adjust strategies as new technology emerged. It was during these years that I realised the true value of flexibility and resilience in this ever-changing landscape.
Entrepreneurship: Building an Affiliate Business from Scratch
After several years on the corporate site, I took a leap of faith and started my own affiliate business. This experience was a crash course in what it takes to build and run a company from scratch. I managed SEO, content strategy, brand partnerships, and growth, which gave me an all-encompassing view of the affiliate industry. This entrepreneurial journey taught me invaluable lessons in resilience, resourcefulness, and the importance of having a skilled team that can help you reach your goals.
By 2023, I joined Mr. Gamble as CMO, bringing my entrepreneurial background and practical experience to the company’s growth strategy. With a focus on SEO, content, and brand partnerships, we have strengthened Mr. Gamble’s foothold in established markets while making inroads into promising new markets.
Exploring Emerging Markets and New Possibilities
As the online gambling industry continues to expand, we see enormous growth potential in emerging markets. While Mr. Gamble US has already established a presence in the United States, we are also looking towards Asia, Latin America, and African – regions where online gambling and new regulations are creating new opportunities for expansion. These markets are particularly exciting as they offer a chance to introduce exciting solutions and adapt to varying regulatory landscapes.
With a strong foundation in established markets, these emerging regions represent future plans for Mr. Gamble’s growth, and we are excited about the possibilities they hold.
A Decade of Change and Evolution in Online Gambling
Over the past 10 years, the online gambling industry has grown from a fragmented field into a well-structured professional landscape. Conferences and expos that were once casual gatherings are now key networking and creative hubs where the latest industry trends and technologies are on full display.
Events such as SiGMA, SBC, iGB and, NEXT.io, and iGaming Club by AffPapa have ramped up the evolution of the online gambling industry and highlighted the industry’s progression in technological advancements.
In recent years, we have also seen a shift from in-office work to hybrid and remote work models, transforming how the industry operates. While digital tools help make work far more efficient, face-to-face interactions and meetings remain wholly irreplaceable. Personal relationships are the backbone of the online gambling industry, and meeting partners, clients, and colleagues in person continues to strengthen bonds and open up new opportunities.
Looking Ahead: Mr. Gamble’s Future and the Road to Growth
As Mr. Gamble’s CMO, I am dedicated to expanding our brand’s image and efforts in both established and emerging markets. The online gambling industry is in constant flux, and our strategies must keep pace. This means adapting to various technological advancements, evolving user preferences, and shifting regulatory gambling landscapes.
Google’s regular algorithm updates make the industry also highly competitive while at the same time keeping us on our toes. This means that we are also continually refining and updating our strategies to stay competitive and relevant in a high-powered market.
Looking back on the last decade, I am filled with optimism and excitement for the future for both myself and the company I work for. With a talented team by my side and untapped markets on the horizon, Mr. Gamble is poised for growth and a lasting impact. Here is to the journey ahead and to everyone – mentors, colleagues, and friends – who have been part of this rewarding path. The next ten years hold exhilarating potential, and I look forward to all that lies ahead.
