The regulated online gambling market of Alberta officially launched on July 13, 2026, becoming the second province in Canada after Ontario to offer a competitive iGaming market for operators and local users.

The market launch comes after years of preparations and collaboration between regulators, operators, and suppliers, with multiple top brands already having secured licenses to offer their products, including FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, Caesars, Penn, Bally’s, and Play Alberta. As part of its market entry, FanDuel shared that it will donate $50,000 to the A Dollar A Day Foundation for mental health programs, while DraftKings announced donating $150,000 to Food Banks Alberta.

FanDuel Canada’s General Manager, Dale Hooper, stated:

“Alberta represents an exciting new chapter for FanDuel Canada, and we look forward to the opportunity to bring our industry-leading Casino and Sportsbook experience to players across the province. As we plan to enter this new market, we’re committed to delivering a best-in-class entertainment experience, and meaningful community engagement remains at the heart of everything we do.”

Meanwhile, the Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) shared that it has finalized all responsible gaming measures, prepared the province’s centralized self-exclusion program, and has required all operators to get RG Check accreditation.

CEO of the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC), Dan Keene, commented:

“By requiring RG Check accreditation, we’re ensuring that every iGaming operator in our market has demonstrated their commitment to player safety through independent verification of their responsible gambling programs.”

According to July 7, 2026, data, the AGLC revealed that 49 operators had successfully registered and paid necessary fees to go live on the launch day.
