Argentina’s San Juan province legalizes iGaming

The Chamber of Deputies of San Juan, Argentina, has approved the law to legalize iGaming in the province.

The legalization will cover not only iGaming. Lotteries, raffles, sports betting, and games of chance involving monetary stakes, whether they rely on luck, skill, or a mix of both, will also be operating under the legal framework.

This means that any gambling activity must be done in compliance with the province’s rules, and all operators must obtain a provincial license. In case of noncompliance with the province rules, unlicensed operators will face strict sanctions.

The main focus of the new regulation is the protection of vulnerable groups, especially underage groups. Moreover, last month, Argentina announced its plan to ban all gambling advertisements and sponsorships. The government opposition supported the idea of banning all advertisements related to the gambling industry, as the risks that come together with gambling practices can be seriously harmful to younger age groups.

Gambling market in Argentina

San Juan is not the only province aiming to have a regulated gambling market. Provinces like Buenos Aires and Córdoba have also introduced similar frameworks, including self-exclusion programs and stricter advertising controls. Together, these efforts are reshaping Argentina’s online gambling landscape, ensuring a safer environment for players.
