Barry Diller’s licensing delayed amid insider trading probe

The significant MGM Resorts International investor Barry Diller is scheduled to speak before a Nevada regulatory agency.

This comes after a government inquiry into potential insider trading two years ago delayed the issuance of his complete license. Trades that Diller, his stepson, and other individuals made on a video game firm are the subject of the investigation.

A portion of MGM that Diller’s business acquired in 2020 has increased to almost twenty percent of the operator’s shares. According to Nevada law, every person or organization that owns five percent or more of the stock in a gaming corporation must hold a license.

Pending the conclusion of the investigation, the Nevada Gaming Commission issued limited gaming licenses to Diller and another executive in May 2022. In May, Diller will go before the commission.

Even with his license being in uncertainty, Diller is still confident in MGM’s expansion and his company’s investment in the casino operator. Diller has received backing from MGM, which claims he hasn’t been found guilty or charged with any crimes.
