bet365 obtains sports betting license to launch in France
bet365 has secured a license from the French Autorité Nationale des Jeux (ANJ) to expand into the country’s gambling market and offer online sports betting.
bet365 had applied for the license back on January 5, 2026, through its Hillside subsidiary, and the ANJ has now issued the license through Decision No. 2026-114. The regulator’s website officially published the license approval on April 22, 2026.
The license will be valid for 5 years, with the start date as April 16, 2026, and it will be non-transferable and renewable. The operator will only be allowed to offer sports betting through the approved bet365.fr domain.
The exact launch date of the platform is still unclear; however, the regulator has reminded bet365 of pre-certification and operation obligations, such as declaring the operation of the necessary archiving support before launching. The operator will also have to comply with certification requirements that are due in six months and one year from the set starting points, with additional updates each year after.
bet365’s rollout in France will come in time for the FIFA World Cup 2026, which is expected to increase marketing activity for gambling operators. The expansion marks an important step for the operator’s entry into regulated European markets.
