Brazil orders 14 licensed betting sites to suspend operations

Brazil’s Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (SPA) has ordered 14 licensed betting websites to suspend their operations in the country after finding breaches in responsible gaming systems and violations within the betting management system (Sigap).

The order was issued on August 14, 2026, following a year-long investigation that was first initiated back in August 2025. As a result, the SPA implemented 7 precautionary measures against the operators, which is one of the main functions of the Secretariat’s sanctioning and supervisory responsibilities.

According to the SPA, 5 enforcement actions were connected to Sigap failures, while the other 2 were related to evaluation and monitoring systems for responsible gaming. The measures have required the affected operators to temporarily deactivate their equipment and systems and return issued tickets. After the announcement of the suspensions, the operators’ platforms are allowed to be accessible only for withdrawing player funds.

The betting companies targeted by the SPA included 3 domains operated by Zeroumbet Digital Platform, 1 platform operated by Enseada Serviços e Tecnologia, 3 of Select Operations’ websites, 1 website operated by Nexus International, and 3 RR Participações e Intermediações de Negócios-owned domains. Additionally, Brazil suspended Pixbet with a €33K daily fine, also in connection with regulatory compliance breaches.
