Brazil welcomes 21 more companies to regulated betting market

The Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA) has just granted definitive authorisations to 21 more operators, marking another big step in shaping the country’s regulated betting market.

Among them, 20 already had provisional licenses, while one is entering the market for the first time. This brings the total number of fully authorised companies to 35.

To secure a definitive license, operators must pay a $30 million advance, which will allow them to run up to three brands under the “.bet.br” domain. With this update, the number of operators with provisional licenses has dropped significantly from 54 to 34, signalling a tightening of regulations.

Monthly inspection fee

In parallel, the SPA strengthens oversight with a new monthly inspection fee, required under Brazil’s betting law. Operators must settle this fee through PagTesouro, with payment options including PIX, credit card, or bank slip. The clear payment structure aims to bring more stability to the sector.

Brazil reshapes iGaming regulations for 2025-2026

SPA Secretary Regis Dudena confirms that regulation is a continuous process, especially in a fast-moving industry like betting. Looking ahead, the SPA is opening a public consultation to shape regulations for 2025-2026. Stakeholders, from operators to everyday bettors, can submit their opinions and suggestions via the Participa + Brasil Platform until March 27, with a live hearing scheduled for February 21.
