Buenos Aires to expand land-based casino sector

Juan Vernengo, Provincial Director of Hippodromes and Casinos, spoke about the progress in Buenos Aires’s land-based gaming industry, as they plan to bring the system up-to-date, while preserving the jobs that depend on it.

To solve the imbalance between online platforms and physical casinos, the administration decided to take strategic steps and modernize the sector for the sake of keeping jobs.

Vernengo stated:

“Technology is advancing at an enormous pace, but we can still strengthen the in-person experience by enhancing entertainment, introducing new tools, and improving services.”

The most notable initiatives of the plan include the introduction of a digital payment system, machine fleet renewal, as well as license regularization. They are also planning on integrating entertainment centers with food options and cultural events to help support the casinos and bring in different target groups.

Although Vernengo recognized that economic problems will affect spending limits for the renewal, he still plans on intensifying efforts to attract residents and tourists to casinos in Mar del Plata, Tandil, and Mirama.

Vernengo believes that their work has already shown success, as the gap between online and physical gaming is beginning to shrink. Modernization, strategic vision, and cooperation with workers have helped bring the industry back on track, in the words of Vernengo.
