Casino Guru launches first free Suicide Prevention Course
Casino Guru Academy launched a new Suicide Prevention Course at ICE Barcelona 2026. The course addresses one of the most sensitive and complex challenges in the iGaming sector: suicide and self-harm threats.
The Casino Guru Academy , focused on creating practical educational resources that help industry professionals better support players and handle consumer issues, is proud to take part in the wider conversation around gambling-related harm and responsible practices.
The course was created by Christina Theophilos, M.Ed., an educational and consumer protection specialist and former Head of Responsible Gaming, with hands-on experience in the industry.
Theophilos commented on the newly-launched course:
“Strong player protection safeguards exist in most regulated markets. However, as grey and illegal markets expand, a global gap remains in accessible and required staff training to recognise and respond to suicide threats. While these platforms do not cause suicidality, uncontrolled play can intensify financial, emotional, and social distress—underscoring the need for practical, real-world preparation for operators.”
The Suicide Prevention Course is the only free learning resource created to help industry professionals that work with customers handle self-harm situations with care and confidence. It gives participants practical guidance on spotting warning signs, responding the right way, and helping calm critical situations.
Šimon Vincze, the Sustainable & Safer Gambling Head at Casino Guru, added:
“Suicide prevention should not be an uncomfortable or marginal topic for industry stakeholders, but an integral part of consumer protection efforts across the sector. Casino Guru Academy’s new course is designed to support that shift, and we are immensely proud to have the opportunity to create this resource and distribute it freely.”
Since launching at the Sustainable Gambling Zone at ICE Barcelona 2026, more than 50 people have signed up for the course, showing growing industry awareness around suicide prevention.
With a degree in English and Communication, I focus on direct reporting that turns industry changes into clear, accessible insights. Interviews with iGaming professionals, regional market overviews, casino traffic trends, and affiliate developments are at the center of what I do, looking at how the iGaming industry is developing and where it is headed.
