CNN launches exclusive collaboration with Kalshi
Prediction market operator Kalshi and CNN have reached an exclusive partnership where Kalshi’s real-time forecasting data will be included in the network’s television programs, becoming their first big media deal.
CNN will be able to use Kalshi’s real-time API to present odds on political, cultural, and news events. It’s expected that CNN Chief Data Analyst Harry Enten will be leading the integration.
Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour mentioned that the company’s prediction market data will allow journalists to focus on fresh news and be able to interpret future events.
Sam Felix, senior vice president of strategic partnerships and business development, spoke on the collaboration:
“By partnering with Kalshi to showcase prediction market data in our programming, CNN journalists will have a fresh, data-based angle from which to explore and better understand the world around us.”
The deal also has an exclusivity clause, which will prevent the network from partnering with competitor operators. But there’s some political clash as well, because Donald Trump Jr. is an adviser to both Kalshi and competitor Polymarket.
Kalshi has shown exponential growth, as it raised $1 billion in a Series E round, bringing its total valuation to $11 billion. The company describes itself as the ultimate source of information about the future, with users from different backgrounds, including reporters, investors, and politicians.
