Initially, the Curaçao regulator revealed a 9-month licensing portal breach in September 2026, sharing that an account registered under a false identity hacked the platform; however, the regulatory body didn’t disclose what kind of information was obtained during the breach.
The CGA shared in a statement:
“The Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA) hereby announces that its current online gaming portal will not be returned to service. Given that the availability of the current digital seal will be affected, the CGA will shortly introduce an alternative mechanism through which operators can demonstrate that a domain is licensed by the CGA. The CGA also continues its efforts in response to the unauthorized access incident, including containment of the data leak, and remains focused on protecting the integrity of its regulatory functions and information assets.”
Additionally, the authority stated that despite the data breach and the portal shutdown, the validity of existing licenses, the requirements for regulated operators, and the CGA’s supervision of the sector wouldn’t be affected. For context, the online licensing portal had first opened back in September 2023.
