David Schollenberger appointed as CRO at Star Entertainment
The Star Entertainment Group has announced the appointment of David Schollenberger as the company’s new Chief Risk Officer (CRO) on April 13, 2026.
Prior to the new appointment, Schollenberger had moved to Sydney in March 2026 to take up the roles of Deputy Group Chief Legal Officer and Financial Crime and AML Compliance Officer at The Star. He was responsible for legal and compliance tasks, specifically focusing on anti-money laundering and crime prevention, as the company was facing regulatory criticism in these areas.
Schollenberger revealed the news of his appointment with a post on his personal LinkedIn page.
Schollenberger wrote:
“I’ve today been promoted to Chief Risk Officer at Star Entertainment Group Ltd in Sydney.”
In earlier positions, Schollenberger was the Director of Compliance and Policy at the Cyprus National Gaming and Casino Supervision Commission, after which he joined Metric Gaming as Head of Legal and Compliance. Before moving to The Star, he held one more position as Senior Legal Counsel at Bally’s Interactive until March 2026.
The appointment is likely connected to the company’s recent issues, with AUSTRAC investigating The Star over money laundering concerns, as well as the operator’s stocks being removed from the Australian stock exchange after failing to submit its financial statements.
