Denmark blocks Polymarket & 97 gambling platforms

Denmark’s Frederiksberg court has officially ordered the country’s gambling regulator, Spillemyndigheden, to require internet providers to block access to 98 gambling websites, including Polymarket, through DNS blocking.

According to court reports, the decision was made on July 8, 2026, but the Ministry of Taxation and Economic Growth shared the news publicly on August 19, 2026. The enforcement has brought the number of blocked platforms to 870 since the launch of the measure in 2012.

Government officials further shared that the now-restricted websites offered gambling to Danish users without holding appropriate licenses or approvals from the gambling regulator. Now, players trying to access the platforms are redirected to a page that explains that the domain is classified as illegal in the country. Additionally, the blocking measure became effective on August 6, 2026, for all 98 websites.

Minister for Taxation and Economic Growth, Jakob Engel-Schmidt, stated:

If you want to take part in the Danish market, you also have to play by the Danish rules. You cannot target your business at Danish consumers and make money from Danes while believing that the Danish rules do not apply to you.”

Specifically targeting Polymarket, the Minister added:

“A human life is not a betting slip. And war should not be something you can sit at home on the sofa and speculate on to make money. That is why I am extremely pleased that Polymarket and a number of other gambling sites have now been blocked in Denmark.”

Alongside Polymarket, Denmark has also banned Ice Casino, 22Bet, Cbet, Instant Casino, iWild Casino, Drip Casino, Mr Bet, SkyCrown, Velobet, and RocketPlay, which operate multiple mirror domains.
