DraftKings announced its decision to step back from the prediction market.

Initially submitted in July 2023, the application named “DraftKings Predict” showed the company’s interest in joining the ranks of platforms like Kalshi and PredictIt. But till March 2024, the application was in a pause mode. Now, the company has decided to step back without providing any specific reason, despite confirming its interest in the prediction market back in March 2025.

According to many experts, the decision is fuelled by regulatory complications. Prediction markets are overseen by the federal Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), while DraftKings typically operates under state-level regulations for sports betting.

Still, DraftKings announces that it is not completely pulling back from the market. Instead, the company is completely checking the details, calling prediction markets an “emerging product” worth thoughtful consideration.
