EasyJet airline’s parent company EasyGroup launches EasyBet

Through a new partnership with betting exchange Matchbook, EasyGroup, the parent company of the low-cost airline EasyJet, has launched a new online sports betting brand, EasyBet.

EasyBet is now live and accepts bets on various sports. Currently, EasyBet.net is accessible from the UK and is licensed by both the Alderney Gambling Control Commission and the Great Britain Gambling Commission.

EasyGroup founder Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou commented:

“We are delighted to welcome EasyBet.net to the ‘Easy’ family of brands. It is a natural new market to complement our other large consumer brands in the UK and Ireland. EasyBet offers peer-to-peer betting with the aim of giving customers fairer odds than traditional bookmakers. It allows you to bet on sports events. You can back what you think will win or lay what you think will lose. We believe this model offers fairer odds to the consumer.”

Despite its previous challenges with the Triplebet brand, which had its license temporarily suspended by the Gambling Commission in 2020 due to serious compliance failures, Matchbook is dedicated to the development of the new brand.

Matchbook CEO Malcolm Graham said:

“The ‘Easy’ brand is renowned for consistently supplying quality and value to its customers. EasyBet.net offers its customers industry-leading odds across a wide range of sports and geographic markets, offering a top-tier user experience. We’re also thrilled we will be supporting Stelios’ philanthropic activities via the licence fees being paid to EasyGroup.”

This is a significant step forward, as it’s the first time that an ‘Easy’ brand has ventured into sports betting. The brand will be managed by Matchbook, which will pay a licensing fee to EasyGroup.
