According to reports from NEXT.io, BlackRush’s launch coincided with New Zealand’s casino license auction on September 29, 2026, during which officials were set to select and approve 15 operators that would be allowed to apply for licenses.
The new casino brand is regulated by Entain’s ElectraWorks Gibraltar license and uses a separate platform not included in the global Entain set-up, instead operating through the same system used for FoxySpins. Additionally, the site requires a New Zealand VPN for local access.
The brand will be offered to local users alongside Entain’s other betting platforms that are available in New Zealand, including TAB and betcha. Furthermore, Entain is currently the only operator in the country that offers legal sports betting through a 25-year deal with TAB New Zealand.
Commenting on Entain’s entry into New Zealand, CEO Stella David had shared:
“I think the opportunity for us is significant because we’ll be the only player who will be able to do cross-sell.”
Regarding the country’s rules for the upcoming licenses, every permit is expected to be granted for 3 years, with each license covering just one brand, while a single operator would be allowed to hold a maximum of 3 licenses.
