FanDuel reports 16.6M Super Bowl Bets

An American gambling company offering sportsbooks, online casinos, and horse racing, FanDuel, reported 16.6 million bets placed on the Super Bowl.

The bets were placed by three million active bettors. Moreover, FanDuel was handling an impressive 70,000 bets per minute. While the impact of the Super Bowl on Flutter’s first-quarter results wasn’t mentioned, industry consensus suggests the game might have been a low-margin one for operators. Gaming companies had been hoping for a low-scoring game with a Kansas City Chiefs victory.

FanDuel stated:

“Fans predicted a high scoring game, with the majority picking the Over on the 48.5-point total ahead of kickoff.”

While the outcome was another in a string of customer-friendly NFL results for sportsbooks, it didn’t seem to disturb investors. Flutter’s stock closed slightly up, and DraftKings saw a 1.32% gain. Meanwhile, Rush Street Interactive took the crown with a 2.41% increase.

During the season, one lucky bettor even turned a $10 wager into more than $7,600 thanks to a successful eight-leg same-game parlay. FanDuel also capitalized on the event with its “Kick of Destiny 3” campaign, where nearly two million fans made picks, earning Bonus Bets, with Eli Manning emerging as the winner in the popular competition.
