Finland imposes gambling marketing fines on 6 individuals

Finland’s National Police Board has ordered six individuals to pay fines for illegal gambling marketing in 2026, with the largest penalty reaching €100,000.

Finland imposes gambling marketing fines on 6 individuals

The fines target individuals who promoted gambling services in mainland Finland, where only state-owned Veikkaus is allowed to market gambling under the current Lotteries Act.

Among those fined is social media personality Anthony Singh, who received a €100,000 conditional fine in August 2026, the biggest penalty out of the 6; however, the decision isn’t yet final. Businessman Jethro Rostedt was fined €25,000 in January and didn’t appeal, making his penalty final, and in August, the Police Board added another €30,000 conditional fine to strengthen the existing ban against him. Other penalties range from €20,000 to €33,000 and include streamers Jyri Karvanen and Riku Virtanen.

Juhani Wallinvirta, Head of Group at the National Police Board, said:

“The purpose of the conditional fine is not to punish illegal activities, but to reinforce compliance with the prohibition decision and to ensure that illegal marketing actually ceases.”

The latest numbers clearly show a change in how the authorities are enforcing the rules, and although the number of marketing bans hasn’t strongly increased, the Police Board has issued more conditional fines against people who continued promoting gambling despite earlier restrictions.

The action comes ahead of Finland’s planned opening of its licensed online gambling market in July 2027. Under the new Gambling Act, operators will face strict limits on where and how they can promote their services, with influencer marketing excluded from the permitted channels.
