Brazilian football federation and national clubs are asked to submit reports to Ministry of Justice about new partnerships with betting companies as they might be illegal.

MJSP asked fifty-four organizations, for example football clubs (Athletico Paranaense, Flamengo), football leagues (Palmeiras Campeonato Brasileiro league) and television networks (Rede Globo de Televisão) to present those reports during the next ten days.

This investigation started as the National Consumer Secretariat is worried that some of those agreements were signed, even though they were not finalized.

It is known that earlier in May, Brazil published sports betting rules and license fees with 22.2 million Brazilian real. No one knows when those rules are going to go live, however many operators hope that it will be done before the World Cup.

During this winter the gaming law was approved by the Congress, but they are still waiting for the Senate’s decision to get the Presidential assent.

“Senacon is working to know what brands have signed final agreements with football teams. The law is still not regulated and for that reason Senacon knows that some activities can be done without any regulations.”

highlighted the Ministry.

According to Rede Globo, Pixbet and Betnacional are going to be the official sponsors for this year’s World Cup. Both brands are cooperating with many Brazilian clubs and companies.

“Being able to cover the World Cup is a great opportunity for our company, and we are really proud of it.”

said Ernildo Santos, Pixbet’s founder.

FIFA World Cup 2022 is going to take place from 20 November to 18 December in Qatar.
