GambleAware to donate £1.2m to 22 charities
GambleAware is going to donate over 1.2 million Pounds as part of its Community Resilience Fund initiative.
The charity’s program is mainly aimed at supporting various disadvantaged minorities and ensuring their adequate access to the right resources and help, as research has shown that those communities are three times as likely to experience gambling-related harms than less deprived ones.
GambleAware invited charities to apply for funding of up to 100 thousand Pounds, and 22 organizations were selected after a lengthy decision-making process involving numerous experts on responsible gambling.
A key point in the selection process was the charities’ proposed programs to tackle problem gambling, with many organizations coming up with unique ideas and concepts.
“We are excited to announce our Community Resilience Fund’s recipients. Through our selected charities, we will be able to support quite a diverse set of minorities and help disadvantaged people all over the United Kingdom get the support they need. This is quite an important initiative for us, as we are confident that the rising cost of living is going to result in drastically higher rates of problem gambling.”
remarked the Chief Commissioning Officer of GambleAware, Anna Hargrave.
