The Gauselmann Group has started off the new year by rebranding itself to the Merkur Group.

The company initially announced its plans to rebrand in early September last year, with its name now officially being transformed from Gauselmann AG to Merkur.com AG. This rebranding follows the company’s expansive success journey of more than six decades, throughout which it has solidified itself as the largest gambling firm in Germany.

The company’s Merkur brand was originally launched in the 1970s, with its success journey being started with the introduction of its first gambling terminal, the Merkur B. Throughout the decade, the company also launched its first-ever venue and continued expanding its portfolio of gambling experiences and establishments across Germany.

Merkur Group’s Founder and Chair, Paul Gauselmann, remarked:

“As we continue growing, our company is becoming more international and online. This latest rebranding will better reflect this, also enabling us to utilize the appeal and successful image of the Merkur brand to further grow the group.”

This rebranding will involve numerous changes across both the company’s online and land-based operations, including Merkur’s social media accounts and gambling establishments. Lastly, the firm mentioned in its announcement that this rebranding will not affect Merkur’s ownership structure, with the Gauselmann Family Foundation remaining as the group’s owner.
