Gentoo Media reduces financial guidance for 2026

Gentoo Media has cut its 2026 financial guidance for the second time in five weeks, pointing to Brazil’s betting ban and a weaker-than-expected third quarter, while receiving a €100 million refinancing package from its largest shareholders.

The Malta-based affiliate now expects 2026 revenue of around €92 million, down from its earlier range of €97 million to €100 million. Brazil brought in about €3.8 million in net revenue between January and August 2026, and the new guidance doesn’t expect anything from the market following Brazil’s ban on fixed-odds betting.

Gentoo said it had been treating Brazil as a long-term investment market and had expected stronger growth there in the fourth quarter, with the company also pointing to softer player activity and weaker sports margins late in the third quarter as a separate hit on revenue.

To cover a €91.5 million bond ahead of December 2026, Gentoo’s subsidiary agreed a €50 million secured loan from a foundation connected to major shareholders, the Juroszek family, alongside a separate €50 million share issue that the same family has agreed to fully underwrite if other shareholders don’t take up their share. The arrangement means that once the bonds are repaid, all of Gentoo’s roughly €57.5 million in debt will be owed to its largest shareholders. An extraordinary general meeting on November 2, 2026, will vote on the share structure changes needed to carry out the deal.

Gentoo Media CEO Jonas Warrer commented:

“This puts a clear, fully committed solution in place ahead of our December bond maturity. The new loan strengthens the Company’s balance sheet and will over time give us the flexibility to return capital to shareholders, whether through dividends or share buybacks, as our board may decide.”

This marks Gentoo’s second guidance cut since late August 2026, when it already lowered its outlook and promised investors a refinancing update by October 1.
