Hard Rock to Open Its First Casino Resort in Canada
Hard Rock International will open its first fully-integrated casino resort, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, in Ottawa, Canada, on July 3, 2025.
The complex has 150 hotel rooms (including 22 luxury suites), over 150,000 square feet of gaming space, 1,500 slot machines, 40 table games, 10 restaurants and bars (including Hard Rock Cafe and Council Oak Steaks & Seafood), as well as Rock Shop/Unity Store for branded merchandise to buy with loyalty points.
Jim Allen, Chairman of Hard Rock International, shared:
“Ottawa is a milestone moment for us. This property will not only attract international visitors but also support the local economy and enhance the region’s entertainment offerings.”
The construction of the complex began in June 2023 and cost about $350 million. The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) chose Hard Rock International to operate the casino at Rideau Carleton Raceway in 2017. The plan was also to transform it into a complete entertainment site. The existing Rideau Carleton Casino is still in operation, but following the opening of the new establishment, the original building will be renovated. Both establishments are to be integrated by the end of 2025, adding more gaming areas and dining options.
Christine Crump, President of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa, said:
“July 3 will mark the beginning of festivities, infused with legendary Hard Rock energy and an Oh! Canada! Feel, this is more than a launch — it’s the start of something incredible for our city, our capital.”
The new complex will create 700 job opportunities and support community initiatives.
Duncan Hannay, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) President and CEO, commented:
“The economic benefits resulting from this expansion will help drive the local economy and will undoubtedly become a tourist hotspot. We are proud of the partnership that we have with Hard Rock International and the City of Ottawa.”
The new property, located in the heart of the National Capital Region, promises to bring major entertainment and boost hospitality in the capital.
