IGT confirms closure of electronic table games sector in 2027
On July 14, 2026, the global gambling and slot provider company, International Game Technology (IGT), confirmed that it plans to shut down its electronic table games (ETG) division in 2027.
In 2024, the company was acquired by Apollo Global Management and merged with Everi Holdings in a $6.3 billion agreement, which later led to the reduction of IGT’s global workforce by 10% in March 2026. According to CEO Hector Fernandez, the move was aimed at simplifying the company’s structure and reducing duplication.
As part of the merger, IGT’s lottery division was also separated and formed into a new company called BrightStar Lottery, with the electronic table games division now appearing to be the next on the list.
Spokesperson for IGT, Phill O’Shaughnessy, shared:
“The move was made as part of our focus on core business priorities and long-term growth objectives. The company will continue to provide its ETG customers with the level of support they expect.”
ITG’s electronic table games business was smaller in size compared to its slots division; however, the sector had started generating stronger value over the last years, with offers including baccarat, blackjack, and roulette. At the same time, the division faced some challenges mainly connected to the fact that it needed bigger space for the games on casino floors, while slots took up less space and generated much more revenue.
