Interview with Nick – CMO at Betroller

In a recent interview with AffPapa, Nick, CMO of Betroller, discussed the biggest iGaming challenges, Betroller’s expansion to new GEOs, and more.
Yeva: Nick, as CMO at Betroller, you’re at the forefront of the company’s growth and brand positioning. What would you say is the biggest challenge of marketing in iGaming today, and how do you tackle it?
Regulatory restrictions are one of the biggest challenges in iGaming marketing. Staying compliant requires constant monitoring of legal changes not only in the regions where we operate but also globally. As a result, Betroller transitioned from a Curaçao license to an Anjouan license in the fall of 2024 to ensure greater operational stability.
Another key challenge is the increasing competition. New brands enter the market almost daily, often with massive marketing budgets and aggressive promotional offers. However, while many brands come and go, player retention remains the real differentiator. Betroller excels in this area, securing its position at the top while others struggle to sustain long-term success.
Our strategy is built around strong retention, open communication with both players and partners, and adaptability to emerging market challenges. Trust is at the core of our relationships—players and partners alike know they can rely on us.
Partnerships play a crucial role in our success. Affiliates are our voice in the market (aside from organic traffic), and if they are dissatisfied, their players will quickly follow. That’s why we prioritize transparent communication, joint development strategies, and constant market analysis. Maintaining direct contact with each partner ensures that any issue can be resolved quickly and efficiently.
Yeva: Betroller has built a strong reputation as a sportsbook-first brand. What prompted the decision to invest more in the casino segment, and how do you plan to differentiate Betroller’s casino offering from the competition?
Betroller’s strong sportsbook foundation and a loyal base of active players naturally led to increased interest in our casino offering. Even players primarily focused on casino games began joining and staying on the platform. Additionally, the growing demand for casino traffic from our partners indicated a strong market opportunity. Based on both annual and semi-annual performance metrics, we made the strategic decision to expand our casino segment.
To differentiate ourselves in this highly competitive space, we are introducing two key offerings: exclusive tournaments in collaboration with our provider partners and carefully curated game selections tailored to player preferences. These features will enhance engagement and provide a more immersive experience for casino players.
Beyond content, our focus remains on delivering an exceptional user experience – fast payouts, seamless navigation, and a personalized approach to player retention. This expansion has also positively influenced our partnership strategy, attracting affiliates and traffic sources that specialize in the casino vertical. By offering more value to both players and partners, we’re strengthening Betroller’s position as a well-rounded iGaming brand.
Very soon, Betroller will not only be known as a top-tier sportsbook but also as an outstanding online casino, bringing the best of both worlds to our players.
Yeva: You’re planning to expand into new GEOs in 2025. Can you share more details about which markets you’re targeting and why these regions are strategically important for Betroller’s growth?
Strategic expansion is a key focus for Betroller in 2025, and our approach is driven by three main factors: favorable regulatory conditions, strong payment infrastructure, and a high volume of active players.
By the end of Q1 2025, we will officially welcome players from Africa as part of our broader growth strategy. Following this, our expansion into LATAM will accelerate, with plans to re-enter key markets and explore new opportunities in the region. Additionally, we have ambitious developments underway for Asia, where we see significant potential, and we’ll be sharing more details very soon.
Beyond these specific regions, Betroller already supports crypto traffic across multiple continents, allowing us to cater to a wide range of partner requests and player preferences.
Our market-entry strategy is built on three essential pillars: localized content, tailored promotions, and strong relationships with local partners. Understanding each region’s unique player preferences, cultural nuances, and key events ensures that we provide an engaging and relevant experience.
With this expansion, Betroller is strengthening its global footprint while remaining agile and adaptive to market demands, offering players and partners the best possible opportunities.
Yeva: Betroller is undergoing a platform migration. What are the key improvements that players and partners can expect from the new version, and how will this upgrade enhance the overall user experience?
In 2024, Betroller began the process of migrating to a new platform, and this transition will bring significant benefits to both players and partners.
Players can expect a much faster page load time, resulting in a smoother and more responsive experience. The updated interface has been designed with user experience in mind, ensuring a more intuitive, user-friendly environment. Navigation will be simpler, allowing players to find what they need more easily, while the overall design will be visually appealing and easy to interact with.
From a functionality standpoint, the new platform will offer better scalability, ensuring a stable experience even during peak traffic times. Features like enhanced account management, quicker deposits and withdrawals, as well as advanced security protocols will further elevate the user experience.
For our partners, the migration opens up new opportunities for streamlined reporting, improved traffic analytics, and more effective affiliate tools. This will allow for better collaboration, more accurate performance tracking, and ultimately stronger partnerships.
Overall, the migration will lead to a faster, more seamless, and enjoyable experience for our players while enhancing operational efficiency and scalability for our partners.
Yeva: Increasing traffic to the casino section is a major focus for Betroller. Are there specific marketing initiatives or partnerships you’re implementing to drive engagement and attract a new audience?
Each segment of the business requires a tailored approach, and the casino vertical is no exception. To effectively attract and retain players, we focus on developing strong relationships with our users, offering a combination of loyalty programs, retention strategies, and unique bonuses designed specifically for casino players.
Promotions, bonuses, and tournaments are key components of our strategy. We’ll be rolling out exclusive games and special offers to keep players engaged while regularly hosting exciting tournaments in collaboration with top-tier providers. These initiatives will help us capture and maintain interest among both new and returning players.
What sets the casino approach apart from other segments is the emphasis on creating a more immersive experience. Beyond standard bonuses, we are focused on delivering a dynamic, personalized user journey. This includes offering curated game selections based on players’ preferences, as well as ensuring a high level of interaction with our casino community through engaging promotions and events.
Additionally, our expansion into new GEOs will include region-specific promotions and local partnerships to increase engagement. By integrating localized content and partnering with regional affiliates, we will create a unique and relevant casino experience for each market.
Overall, Betroller’s strategy for boosting casino traffic revolves around offering exceptional value through engaging promotions, exclusive game content, and community-driven experiences, all while maintaining a focus on player retention and satisfaction.
Yeva: Affiliates and strategic partnerships play a crucial role in iGaming success. What kind of partners are you looking for, and what makes an ideal collaboration for Betroller?
At Betroller, we welcome all partners, as even the smallest affiliate can deliver outstanding results. We focus on long-term, mutually beneficial relationships built on trust and performance.
The key to a successful partnership is a shared commitment to results, backed by high-quality traffic, a strong market reputation, and effective campaigns. Affiliates are the brand’s voice in the market, shaping its success and strengthening player engagement.
By working closely with our partners, we refine our marketing strategies, expand our reach, and create opportunities for sustainable growth.
Yeva: If you weren’t in iGaming, what other industry or career path do you think you’d be in – and why?
This is probably the most challenging yet simple question in an interview because iGaming has become not just a job but a rhythm and way of life for me. I believe in not just dreaming but acting—setting goals and working toward them. This mindset would likely lead me into aviation, which offers a similar sense of freedom and endless possibilities.
My long-held dream of becoming a pilot was initially a distant goal, but over time, it has evolved into a concrete objective: earning my private pilot license (PPL). Aviation, like iGaming, is a world of opportunities, and the discipline and focus required in both fields would certainly complement each other.
So, I am fully committed to iGaming and will remain in this industry, but fortunately, it doesn’t prevent me from pursuing goals outside of it, like aviation.
