Israeli major charged for classified Polymarket bets

A Tel Aviv court has revealed that an Israeli Air Force major and a civilian were charged for placing bets on Polymarket connected to Israel’s strikes on Iran during June 2025 using information from classified military meetings.

The charges state that the major shared details of a planned attack with his civilian accomplice one day before the operation, and when Israel started the attack on June 13, 2025, the civilian placed a bet, with the $160,000 winnings later shared between the pair.

Both are now facing charges of security offenses, bribery, and obstruction of justice, but the names have stayed undisclosed under court order.

The pair is accused of other similar crimes as well, with prosecutors believing that they placed another bet in September 2025 connected to the end of the 12-day war and a planned attack in Yemen. In January 2025, they placed a bet about the timing of a strike on Iran, but the bet was cancelled after the civilian found social media posts about his account.

The IDF has since stated:

“No operational harm was caused. The conduct is a severe ethical failure and a clear crossing of a red line; the actions are not in line with IDF values and what is expected of servicemembers.”

The charges were filed in February 2026 in the Tel Aviv District Court.
