Italy puts Polymarket on ADM blacklist for the 2nd time
Italy has put Polymarket on the Customs and Monopolies Agency’s (ADM) blacklist for the second time, arguing that the platform is classified as an offshore betting company without a local license.
Initially, Italian authorities had blocked Polymarket back in 2025; however, the prediction market was allowed to continue offering its products from December 2025 after an administrative tribunal overturned the ban. In the latest development, the ADM has once again blacklisted the operator, which means that access to its website has been banned.
At the same time, industry representatives from Italy’s gambling sector have spoken out in support of the decision.
Managing Director of Betsson’s Southern Europe operations, Stefano Tino, commented:
“I was pleased to learn that Polymarket has now been added, again, to the ADM blacklist of unauthorized gambling websites in Italy. I would like to congratulate the Italian regulator for reaffirming what I believe is a fundamental principle of every regulated market: the same rules must apply to everyone.”
In response, Polymarket has argued that its platform is a hybrid domain mixing betting and trading, as it allows users to bet on future outcomes, which differs from traditional betting platforms.
With the new ban now in place, the ADM is also expected to submit a report to the Rome Public Prosecutor’s Office to present any possible criminal proceedings against Polymarket.
