Flutter Entertainment-owned PokerStars has announced that it plans to lay off hundreds of employees from multiple international markets as part of a broader restructuring.

The goal of the measures is to create a more locally focused operating system and bring PokerStars closer to Flutter’s other brands, like FanDuel, especially after PokerStars’ platform was shut down in the United States and integrated into a unified app under FanDuel in April 2026. This decision ended PokerStars’ position as an autonomous business in the U.S., removing multiple employees from engineering, marketing, and customer support departments.

The latest affected markets include Canada, Europe, the UK, and the Isle of Man. It’s estimated that 80 roles in the Isle of Man have been cut, while in Malta, 50 employees have been let go, with another 50 now under review.

A spokesperson from PokerStars shared:

“PokerStars can confirm that it is proposing a number of organizational changes as part of its ongoing transformation programme, which includes integrating its online poker offering with Flutter’s leading brands to better serve customers. While we have sought to minimize the impact on colleagues, including through opportunities for redeployment, the proposals will, unfortunately, result in a number of roles being affected. We are communicating with those impacted as part of the process and will provide them with the support they need throughout.”

The organizational changes come after Flutter suffered group profitability losses in Q1 2026 with a 38% year-on-year decline in net income, paired with the rise of remote gaming duty taxes in the UK in April 2026, which significantly increased operating expenses for the company.
