Japan to have its first casino in 2030
MGM Resorts, partnering with Orix Corporation, will open its casino project in Osaka, Japan, by 2030.
Being a large port city and commercial center on the Japanese island of Honshu, Osaka is known for its modern architecture, nightlife, and hearty street food.
The city will host its first-ever casino resort’s opening around late 2030. Initially, the project was expected to have a budget of $8.6 billion; however, the current budget is over $9 billion.
The casino resort is a collaboration between Orix Corporation and MGM Resorts International and will rise on 52 acres of Yumeshima Island, part of a 700-acre area in Osaka Bay. The resort promises to be a tourist magnet with its Japanese charm combined with world-class facilities and will feature three hotels with 2,500 rooms, convention spaces, and a range of shopping and dining areas. Although the casino will occupy only a small part of the resort’s total territory, it will offer a taste of gaming excitement.
Osaka IR KK is excited to start preparatory construction this month, and if all goes well, the casino resort will welcome its visitors in 2030.
