In an effort to battle illegal gambling businesses, Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) has partnered with Cloudflare, a provider of internet security solutions.

Through this collaboration, the KSA will be able to ask Cloudflare for more details regarding the hosting companies that operate illegal gambling businesses, which will help the regulator in its investigations and efforts to put an end to illicit gambling.

The KSA emphasized how difficult it is to track down the operators and hosting parties of illicit gambling websites since they frequently want to avoid being discovered and facing consequences. It is anticipated that the data supplied by Cloudflare would be helpful in locating and prosecuting unlicensed gambling operators.

This partnership comes after the KSA withdrew its first, legally binding directive to Cloudflare over two affiliates in the Netherlands. At first, Cloudflare had been told by the KSA to stop serving these affiliates. Cloudflare made it clear that although it can offer technical details, it is unable to physically interfere with an organization’s operations in order to halt them.

As a result, the KSA decided to collaborate with Cloudflare in order to more efficiently deal with illicit gambling companies. This collaboration is a reflection of the regulatory bodies’ continued efforts to safeguard Dutch consumers and combat illicit online gambling.
