Liberia to license and regulate prediction markets

Liberia to license and regulate prediction markets

Liberia’s National Lottery Authority and the Liberia Online Gaming and Casino Commission have approved the full licensing and regulation of prediction markets in the country.

Liberia will integrate prediction markets under its International Gaming License, which will offer operators clear compliance standards and regulatory clarity. The regulator stated that the move aligns with global gaming norms and aims to place Liberia’s licensed prediction markets next to established brands like Polymarket.

The country’s regulatory structure supports both B2C and B2B suppliers in the prediction market value chain, meaning it is open to platform operators, technology providers, aggregators, and retail-focused businesses, with each one operating under separate licensing conditions.

An important element of the framework is the focus on financial access, as previously banking barriers have restricted the development of prediction markets. Under Liberia’s new rules, the platforms will have access to approved banking and payment partners, recognition from international financial institutions, and integration support from established technology suppliers.

While operators will get banking stability and international credibility, players will be provided with transparent and legally recognized platforms.

This step is part of a bigger initiative to improve Liberia’s gambling industry and keep up with international regulatory standards.
