Lotteritilsynet has recently received the Regulatory Excellence award at the latest installment of the IAGR conference.

The conference’s jury highlighted the regulatory authority’s excellent efforts toward reducing the prevalence of problem gambling among Norwegian players, mentioning that the Lotteritilsynet was able to cut the number of people experiencing problem gambling in half in the past four years. The regulator’s strict measures against unauthorized operators and thorough compliance reviews of licensed companies further contributed to its latest award.

The Chair of IAGR’s juries and board, Caroline Kongwa, commented:

“Lotteritilsynet’s excellent efforts and leading strategies toward countering problem gambling has positioned the authority as one of the leaders in the gambling industry’s regulatory space. Lotteritilsynet also contributes significantly to the enhancement of the worldwide gambling sector by sharing its expansive wealth of knowledge with other regulatory authorities, helping them ensure the safety of their local gambling enthusiasts.”

In its announcement, the Lotteritilsynet further highlighted its work against problem gambling, mentioning a survey carried out by the University of Bergen. The study was conducted in May of this year and showed that since 2019, the number of people affected by various gambling problems has been halved.
